Assessing Risk: Hot Work is the second in our series of Risk Assessment films. Aimed at improving crew awareness of the Risk Assessment process, the film looks in particular at a Risk Assessment prior to performing Hot Work but makes it clear that the lessons apply to any job requiring a Risk Assessment.
Using a 3D animation to follow the events of an actual incident, the film demonstrates how even an apparently simple task can go tragically wrong if crew do not stop and think about what they are about to do.
Key learning points from this film include:
Risk Assessment is your ‘Thinking Time’
Stop and take a look at the job, before you start!
Understand the three steps of a successful Risk Assessment: Identify the Hazards, Estimate the Risk of these hazards, Eliminate or Control the Risk
Understand the terms 'Hazard' and 'Risk', so you have a better understanding of what it is you’re assessing
Change Management – if the job changes, stop and re-assess the situation.
The DVD includes a Training Guide to assist the delivery of a succesful training session, 12 A4 safety posters in PDF format and other materials.
Used as a supplement to your existing onboard training, this series will considerably enhance the Safety Culture onboard any vessel.
